Guinea grass is nutritious and palatable fodder of kharif season, which contains 10.8 percent crude protein and 62.4 percent total digestible nutrients. In palatability it competes with maize, bajra and sorghum. It is totally free from anti-quality components. It is leafy, non-hairy and supplies good quality green fodder from May to November in 5-6 cuttings. It is fairly tolerant to drought and wet conditions but is susceptible to frost. It requires warm and humid conditions. It should be grown on loam to clay soils. It has a good seed production potential. For getting higher seed production of good quality, the following technology developed by Punjab Agricultural University should be adopted.
