Management of Citrus insect and mite pest

Citrus is an important fruit crop in Punjab. The tree vitality, fruit quality and production is being inflicted by several insect and mite pests. To advocate the management practices of the different insect and mite pest, consideration should be focused on the below mentioned points for the effective control: 1. The trees should be observed frequently for the occurrence of different insect pests. 2. The infestation of aphids, citrus psylla, whitefly and leaf miner generally occurs on the tender shoots. 3. During the hottest part of the summer the presence of citrus psylla should be observed by looking the leaves from the underside of the trees. 4. The activity period of the different insect and mite pests as given below should carefully be noticed.5. The control measures should be initiated at the appropriate time. 6. Only recommended dosages and insecticides should be used. 7. The spraying should be done with foot or rocking sprayer. 8 While spraying the trees should be drenched to get the goodresults. 9. The mixing of different insecticides should be avoided.
