Laboratory studies were conducted to test the pathogenicity of Gaeumannomyces graminis isolates collected from the winter wheat cultivars Zyta, Finezja, Kris, Bogatka and Tonacja toward seedlings of the winter wheat cultivars Rubens, Rywalka, Kris, Zyta, Bogatka, Nadobna, Kobra, Finezja and Tonacja. Pathogenicity tests assessed the percentage of infected roots. The results indicated that cultivar selection had a significant effect on the level of infection with the causal agent of take-all disease in wheat. From among the tested cultivars of winter wheat, regardless of the type of inoculum, Rubens was found the most sensitive, whereas Zyta and Finezja were the most resistant cultivars. For the cultivars highly sensitive to G. graminis, all isolates used in the experiment produced significantly the same results. The type of isolate played a significant role for the cultivars least sensitive to G. graminis, the lower the infection present on a cultivar the higher the impact of the type of isolate.
