Studies on using a new insecticide containing cyazypyr for protection of carrot plants against carrot root fly (Psila rosae Fabr.)

Field experiments on the effectiveness of a new insecticide containing cyazypyr (cyantraniliprole group) were carried out in Research Institute of Horticulture in Skierniewice, in years 2009 and 2011. The insecticide was used to control second generation of carrot root fly {Psila rosae Fabr.) in carrot crops. The field experiments were carried out in Skierniewice and Powiercie. The tested product was applied at two doses: 0.25 and 0.5 l/ha, using 600 I of liquid spray per ha, as a single spray. Dursban 480 EC, at a dose of 1.5 l/ha was used as a reference product. The results of conducted experiments revealed that the insecticide containing cyazypyr showed a good efficiency, compared to the control combination, keeping the low level of damage of carrot roots at 4.5-21.7% in both locations.
