The influence of herbicide dose differentiation on the yield height and structure of yield spring barley cultivars

The aim of performed field experiments was to assess the effect of both recommended and reduced does of herbicides on weed controlling, spring barley yielding as well as grain structure and quality. The field strict experiments laid out with strip plot design in 3 replications were conducted in 2009-2011 at the Experimental Station of Cultivar Testing in Kroscina Mala. Two spring barley cultivars Stratus and Mauritia were treated with the following herbicides: Starane 250 EC at the doses 0.4 and 0.8l/ha, and Chwastox Turbo 340 SL at the doses 1.0 and 2.0 l/ha at the tillering phase. The results of field experiments showed that both herbicides used at full doses effectively reduced the number of weeds by 86.7-89.5% (cultivar Stratus) and 82.1-90.0%(cultivar Mauritia), while the application of the same herbicides at a reduce dose by half resulted in 59.5-72.5% (cultivar Stratus) and 60.2-66.8% (cultivar Mauritia) of weed reduction. In both varieties showed significant differences in yield between the combinations. Significantly lowest yields were obtained on the control plots and the highest yield was harvested from plots treated with the herbicide Chwastox Turbo 340 SL at a dose of 2.0 l/ha. Both cultivars showed a significant difference in the number of plants between the combinations. Significant differences in 1000 grain weight were only stated for the combinations with the cultivar Mauritia.
