The development of H. schachtii on sugarbeet and on rape was determined in pot experiments conducted during spring and winter. The nematode recorded 2 complete generations on sugarbeet and only one generation in rape. When reared on rape sown in winter, hatching of the larvae started in the autumn and the larvae penetrated the roots of the crop.
