Control of weeds in crops, especially in sugar beets, oilseed rape, cole crops, lentils, flax and safflower is, accomplished with an effective amount of a compound of the formula: whereinR₁ is H, CH₃ or CH₂CH₃;R₂ is H or CH₃;X is OCH₃ or OCH₂CH₃; andY is NHCH₃, N(CH₃)₂, N(CH₃)OCH₃, OCH₃, OCH₂CH₃, OCH₂CF₃, CH₂CH₃, CH(CH₃)₂ or cyclopropyl;and their agriculturally suitable salts.
