Using of biological methods in the control of winter oilseed rape pests.

Brassica napus L. is an important plant cultivated in Poland. The growing area of this plant is increasing continually and it is associated with canola oil, used as engine fuel. Unfortunately, it causes the increase of the range of occurrence of pests, diseases and weeds. The intensive studies were undertaken toward using the biological methods in plant protection with a full spectrum of organisms (pathogens, parazytoids), natural products and volatile compounds emitted by plants. The last one might have repellent activity on oilseed rape pests. For example, essential oil produced by lavender plants has a repellent effect on Ceutorhynchus sp.
