摘要

The Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata; CPB) is an insect of high importance to Polish agriculture and Polish plant protection, as a result of intensive potato production and the role of this crop in the Polish economy. The area under potato cropping in Poland amounted, until quite lately, to 2.7 million ha and recently it amounted to approximately 0.7 million ha. Different methods are used for the control of CPB in Poland, i.e. quarantine, mechanical, physical, chemical, breeding, biological and integrated. Chemical control is one of the main methods applied for the control of CPB. The first recommended compounds were arsenates and in the following years the main pesticides originated from the chlorinated hydrocarbon group withdrawn from use at the beginning of the 1970s. Those pesticides were replaced by organophosphorous insecticides, carbamates, synthetic pyrethroids and recently chitin synthesis inhibitors, neonicotinoid insecticides and phenylpyrazoles. CPB is an example of problem, which was a result of the agricultural activity of farmers. This pest influences also the development of plant protection in Poland.
