The consequences of changes on the list of plant protection products placed on the Polish market for selected crops.

The number of plant protection products registered in Poland, from 2002 and 2008, for the control of the most important harmful organisms in winter wheat (typical major crop), carrot and mint (typical minor crop) was analysed. It was found that the number of products available for the protection of winter wheat against diseases had increased. The number of herbicides and insecticides registered for winter wheat protection significantly decreased in the analysed period, but was still sufficient from the point of view of resistance preventing strategy. The possibilities of carrot protection against all groups of harmful organisms decreased. Considering the recent withdrawals of plant protection products ensuring the suitable programme of carrot protection with respect to resistance preventing strategy will not be possible in Poland in the 2009 vegetation season. The possibilities of mint protection decreased very significantly and ensuring the protection of mint in Poland is a serious challenge.
