Metallic and Ceramic Cats Recycling the Economical Way

Due to their few grams content of precious metals - which is responsible for their catalytic effect - automobile exhaust catalytic converters have a high value and are collected and then put into a well-structured recycling process. A special characteristic of Duesmann & Hensel Recycling GmbH is the fact that they cannot only recover precious metals from ceramic catalysers but also from metallic catalysers too, which, for a long time, was considered uneconomical. The equipment needed to recycle the two categories of catalysers are completely different. The result, however, in both cases is the same: a high concentration of precious metals that are sent to a suitable refinery where the single elements of platinum, palladium and rhodium are extracted.
