Belt conveyors: General Application and Economics of Long Distance Single Belt Transport in Kilometers

In our previous articles on Belt Conveyors we have seen that as a transportation means the belt conveyors are a unique equipment because of the following: 1. It is known for conveying of a variety of materials. 2. It can be made to carry wide range of capacities. 3. It can very easily adapt to the required path of travel. 4. It has very effective loading, discharging and stockpiling capabilities. 5. It can perform process function and also can be used with auxiliary equipments. 6. It is extraordinary in terms of its reliability and availability. 7. It has great environmental advantages. 8. It operates with an extremely high degree of safety. 9. It works with lowest labour hours per ton. 10. It operates on electricity and consumes power only when they are being used and less affected cost wise as they do not consume liquid fuels. 11. They operate with very low maintenance costs and do not require or need extensive support systems associated with trucks. The combined effect of all the above when put together for belt bulk material handling gives great advantages for labour and energy for Long Distance Transportation.
