French tube maker Vallourec inaugurated a new research center in late June 2013 in Rio de Janeiro that is due to be operational by October 2013. The facility will focus on all pre-salt activities of the group, with the support of Vallourec's recently expanded R&D unit in Belo Horizonte. The new facility is located next to the CENPES research center of state-owned oil company Petrobras.
