摘要

Much of REACH may be familiar these days, but the challenges of global compliance keep on coming. Turkey’s adoption of new classification and labelling requirements last December is a milestone in the further development of Turkish chemicals management legislation. ChemCon Europe 2014, taking place in Istanbul in the first week of April will be examining the latest developments in the country, as well as providing its customary assessments of legal developments in all the key geographies and generic global compliance issues. Turkey’s classification and labelling regulation, known as the SEA, aims to align the country’s regime with the EU Regulation on chemicals classification, labelling and packaging (CLP). It requires chemical manufacturers and importers in Turkey to notify substances present on the market before 1 June 2015, either on their own or in a mixture, to the Turkish C&L inventory between 1 June 2014 and 1 June 2015. Substances must be classified and labelled according to the SEA’s criteria regulation from 1 June 2015, and mixtures from 1 June 2016 but, as under CLP, a two-year transition period for products placed on the market before these dates, will apply to prevent products having to be re-labelled (CW 12 December 2013).
