摘要

Bisphenol A (BPA) is one of the most commonly used polymer building block due to its outstanding property/cost ratio. 4'-[1-Methyl-1-(4'-hydroxybiphenyl-4-yl)ethyl]biphenyl-4-ol is a particularly interesting polymer monomer based on BPA as the polycarbonate from this may combine polymer liquid crystalline with improved low temperature ductility of BPA polycarbonate, which is commercially important but not achieved property. Bendler has done the pioneering design, synthesis and polymerization with phosgene for new polycarbonate of this new monomer. Recently, we have developed two new effective synthetic methods for this monomer (Scheme 1 and Scheme 2).
