摘要

The primary data of physical adsorption, the adsorption isotherm, is the measure of the equilibrium quantity of adsorptive present at a gas/solid interface as a function of pressure and at a fixed temperature. It follows that the magnitude of the quantity adsorbed at a particular pressure is somehow a measure of the extent of that interface. If the isotherm is normalized to a unit weight of sample, as is customary, it can provide a measure of the specific surface area of the solid material.
