1.1. The concept of Smart City is gathering momentum in India. The Gol (Government of India) has informally announced creation of about 100 Smart Cities in the country. Some of them are the part of major industrial corridors'.... 1.2. The smart city shall have all the state of art facilities and infrastructures conducive to the growth of industries, real estate, tourism, shipping/aviation, surface transport (rail/road) etc. 1.3. The city will also have a very large residential establishment along with supporting facilities like school, colleges, shopping centers/malls, hospitals, parks/gardens, hotels and restaurants, sports complex, community hall/town hall, bus terminals, metro rail etc. The smart city may also have wide roads, water supply, drainage, gas pipe lines, street lights, traffic lights, communication facilities etc. Considering very high quality of life in smart city. 1.4. The power requirement will also be very high for such an industrial and other establishments in the smart city. 1.5. A typical case study of the smart city requiring huge quantity of power through 400 kV/220 kV/66 kV/11 kV system is given hereunder.
