Crops aim to dodge the bullet this year

MANY remember the dry years of 1983 and 1988, but those were onetime events. We haven't seen two dry years in a row across the Corn Belt in more than 30 years. Timing is right for dry weather again in the Corn Belt in 2006, if the currently developing La Nina intensifies during late winter, and into spring and summer of '06. Odds for a drier weather pattern across the Corn Belt increase if this occurs.
