Survey shows farm-state voters strongly oppose cuts to USDA

VOTERS are fickle. One thought today; jump on another bandwagon tomorrow. But at least in midsummer 2005, voters in three key farm states sent a clear message: "Don't mess with USDA funding." The impact of farm-state voters could be crucial next year, when congressional elections roll around. So the W.K. Kellogg Foundation wanted to know what voters think now. Two polling groups surveyed 900 voters, 300 each in Iowa, Kansas and Minnesota. Participants were registered voters, not just farmers.
