With sellers seeking price rises relent- lessly while buyers put up resistance, negotiations over recovered paper (RCP) import prices have been getting tough in the Chinese market. Over the past two weeks, major suppli- ers priced benchmark US old corrugated containers (OCC) in their initial offers to customers higher than market levels, mostly at $197-198/tonne, with some ask- ing as much as $200/tonne.
