IWC Schaffhausen has been manufacturing upmarket chronographs at its Swiss headquarters for more than 140 years, in 1986 IWC unveiled for the first time a Da Vinci watch ina zirconia ceramic case. This was produced in only very small numbers because of the enormous difficulty in machining the hard material.
