摘要

The demand for fine powder is increasing in several industrial sectors.It is known that fine powders have a tendency to aglomerate and form lumps making the grinding process inefficient.Inefficient grinding increases energy consumption there by cost of production.The scan of literature reveals that additive will improve grinding efficiency particularly while generating fine powders.This paper deals with energy consumption during fine dry grindinb of calcite with different additives,with periodic dosage and one tme additon.The investigations indicated a periodic increment of 0.2% weight of additives per hour in a batch ball mill increases the grinding efficiency when compared to one time dosage of 1% weight of additive.Th eplant operating data reveal theat use of 0.01% and 0.02% weight of additive in contiuous hammer mill grinding showed a reduction of 45% and 32% electrical energy power consumption respectively.The net electrical energy saving could be achieved is 1.5 to 1.0 kWh/MT by using additive 0.01% to 0.02% by weight respecxtively.
