As from July 1, 2003 the new ATEX Directive 94/9/EG will come into effect. The consequences for equipment suppliers and users for hazardous areas are the same as for CE marking: in fact ATEX is part of CE marking. As CE Marking, and consequently ATEX, are mandatory, equipment suppliers and users must be aware of the required impact. This article does not cover the liquid and gas related aspects of ATEX.
