POLYMER processing additives (PPA's) have been used for over 40 years to aid the extrusion of linear low-density polyethylene.Although the primary application of PPA's is to eliminate melt fracture there are other reasons that PPA's are used in industry.The reduction of die buildup is well known but others have used PPA's to improve gloss in blow molding or to de-bottleneck a palletizing extruder by taking advantage of the drop in pressure and energy associated with PPA's,which allows an increase in output.
