New families of metallocene based polyolefins plastomers and elastomers are offering injection molders broad new opportunities. Molders can target high value applications and can obtain higher productivity from existing equipment with these polymers. Metallocene polyolefins provide good low temperature brittleness properties, excellent optics, good flexibility over a wide range of densities and the capability to run on either a hot or a cold runner system. Becasue these are new types of polymers, knowledge of the processing characteristics of these will make it possible to ensure the maximum utility of their products.
