Jute (cloth) reinforced sheets (JRS) were prepared with the help of olyester resin based sheet moulding compound (SMC) similar to those of fibre glass reinforced sheets (FRP). NHatural resin shellac was used as filler in the SMC. JRSs possess adequate mechanical properties and resistance towards various chemicals indicating that these may find utilization for structural fabrication. Use of natural fibre (jute) and natural resin (shellac) is likely to reduce hazard due to fibre glass and synthetic resin.
