Activated clays can bind a range of mycotoxins, ie. more than aflatoxin alone, and this includes toxins with more complex structures and with less clear charge polarity, eg. zearalenone. The key differences in clays are clay type including mine location, plus the specific physical and chemical activation processes applied to the clay. Both the physical and the chemical activation processes effect the clay's toxin binding capacity.
