Global marketing with emphasis on developing cost-effective poultry product technologies which can be processed with limited facilities and service. Modern trends of global marketing are based on efficient utilisation of resources, development of cost-effective technologies and search for new markets. In all these cases, including those for food products, the emphasis is being laid on strict measures for quality control and consideration for the purchasing capacity of the customers. The norms of efficient consumer response, particularly for fast foods, could be achieved through stabilised marketing of customerfriendly products capable of attracting a wider section of society. Such necessities encourage food technologists as well as managers to work for and with, the strategies having a direct impact of profitability to the processors, entrepreneurs and, the supreme judge of market, the consumers. In the case of poultry products, these considerations also apply and one has to be vigilant towards quality linked minimum cost of production to avail the benefits of innovative technology. For the purpose of bringing down costs of production, people have adopted many different approaches. 1. Use of cheaper inputs, 2. Reduction in costs of processing, 3. Reduction in the cost of packing material, 4. Reduction in cost of transportation and storage, 5. Accepting lower margins of profit. Working on these lines, research projects in the Division of Post Harvest Technology of this Institute were aimed at the development of cost effective poultry products which could be processed under village conditions without much need for electricity or financial investments. Among countries with a developing economy, the major thrust appears to be the hunt for respectable jobs requiring minimum fiscal investments. Some of the technologies developed and patented by the scientists of this institute have been based on these norms.
