Despite falling population Poland's confectionery market is growing steadily

According to market analysts, Leatherhead Foods, Poland’s confectionery market increased by 7.7% between 2009 and 2013, with an estimated market value of ?1.59 billion despite the European economic downturn and a fall in its population during the same period. Chocolate confectionery, with a 71% market share outweighs other confectionery categories, such as sugar at 20% and gum at 9%. According to the report, wafer-based products, chocolate blocks and tablets are among the most popular countlines. Demand for dark chocolate is growing as a result of the trend for more premium chocolates and healthy alternatives among older consumers.
