Cis-[PtCl2(p-TPPTP(H)(7))(2)]Cl-2 center dot 4H(2)O center dot(CH3CH(OH)CH3): a platinum phosphine complex exhibiting both inter- and intra-molecular hydrogen bonding

The title compound, cis-[PtCl2(p-TPPTP(H)(7))(2)]Cl(2)(.)4H(2)O(.)(CH3CH(OH)CH3) (TPPTP=triphenylphosphine triphosphonate), is formed via crystallization from a water-isopropanol solution of cis-[PtCl2(TPPTP(H-6))(2)]. The coordination geometry around platinum is distorted square planar with two coordinated chloride ligands, and two free chloride ions in the crystal lattice. Two of the phosphonic acid groups are protonated -PO3H3+ and the complex contains extensive intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonding. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
