About 675 kiloton's of PVC-based compounds are now used in cable manufacture in Western Europe. This represents some 60 percent of all insulating and sheathing compounds used in the cable industry. PVC is used widely in general industrial applications such as power transmission cables (up to 6kV), distribution wiring, and in telecommunications and vehicles.
