Pearlesence-Friend or Foe?

Anyone who has ever blow-molded PET performs into bottles is very familiar with that white pearl color that sometimes forms on the surface of the bottle.Actually,if you hadn't realized it,it's probably on the INSIDE Surface.The title of this article asks the question-friend or foe? I'm sure the foe part is probably clear(or actually not clear-since it's pearlescent!)However,why would anyone consider it a "friend".To understand this apparent dichotomy,it will help to understand what pearlesence is and where it comes from.Pearlesence refers to the pearl like appearance that sometimes occurs on the surface of a PET bottle as a result of certain conditions during the blow-molding process.
