Operating profit and revenues increase / Feasibility study underway for new 1m t/y olefins complex

Russian polymer and rubber producer Nizhnekamskneft- ekhim (NKNK, Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan; www.nknh.ru) has reported a 6.7% year-on-year increase in operating profit for 2014 to RBL 13.3 bn (about EUR 193m). Revenues in the year increased by 10.9% to RUB 133 bn. The company's overall production of primary products rose by 2.3% year-on-year to 2.32m t. The main driver of revenue growth was in plastics production, which increased by 10.7% over 2013, to 716,000 t/y. The gains were driven by the launch of the company's fourth stage of polystyrene production in April 2014. This brought on stream an additional 50,000 t/y of polystyrene capacity, bringing Nizhnekamskneftekhim's total capacity for styrene plastics to 300,000 t/y. Additionally, Nizhnekamskneftekhim was able to increase sales of a number of non-core products -including but not limited to ethylene glycol, polyether and ethylene oxide.
