Plans to buy German plastics recycler mtm plastics / Recyclate to be blended with virgin polymer output

As part of a new strategy to make bolt-on acquisitions in new polymer fields, Borealis (Vienna / Austria; www.borealisgroup. com) will buy plastics recycler mtm plastics (Niedergebra / Germany; www.mtm-plastics.eu) and mtm compact (Fiirsten-walde / Germany). The group is one of Europe's largest producers of post-consumer polyolefin recyclate drawn from collection systems and other bulk plastics waste. It processes 30,000 t/y of regrind into mostly injection moulded products for a wide range of end-uses. An expansion to 40,000 t/y is due to be completed by the end of this year.
