The upswing in the German plastics processing industry that began in the last three months of 2015 continued into the first third of this year. The total value of manufactured plastics goods from January to the end of April was around 3.9% higher than in the previous year, at just under EUR 16.8 bn. This is shown by the latest figures from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis, Wiesbaden / Germany; www.destatis.de) on the industry segments involved directly with the processing of plastics. Even when the low polymer price level of January and February 2015 - which distorts the comparison somewhat - is taken into account, there is no denying the fundamentally positive trend. If things continue in the same vein, this year will again see another record for the German plastics processing sector.
