New lightfast grades of the thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) Desmopan and Texin developed by Bayer MaterialScience for covering textile yarn are opening up design possibilities,especially in the automotive industry.The materials-based on aliphatic isocyanates and polyethers-display "virtually no yellowing" when subjected long-term UV light exposure,so they can be pigmented with any color,including bright ones,says Bayer.Their transparency gives the color full play.
