In-mold decoration is a fast-growing technology that offers high-impact aesthetics,manufacturing economies,and improved product quality through the use of specialty films.The process isn't new,but advances in materials,coupled with extensions of the technology that include the use of coatings and paint,are giving in-mold decoration(IMD)greater potential in diverse applications.IMD is established in markets like automotive,cell phones,and personal electronics,but overall it is a process niche.In five to ten years,though,many say it could be mainstream and an important means of upgrading the look and quality of products.
