Japan's Mitsui Chemicals mulls new phenol/acetone unit 2009-2010

Singapore-Japan's Mitsui Chemicals Inc is aiming to bring onstream a new 300,000 mt/year phenol plant in 2009 or 2010,a company source said March 27.Alongside the phenol plant,a 180,000 mt/year acetone plant will also be constructed.The company is also looking at the possibility of integrating a bisphenol-A plant with the new phenol-acetone plant at the same site.The actual capacity of the proposed BPA plant is still under study.
