Turkish Petkim to shut Aliaga aromatics units on'poor economics'

London-Turkey's Petkim will shut down its aromatics production units at its Aliaga site due to poor production economics,the company's export manager said Ocotber 29.The company said it would idle its 150,000 mt/year benzene,140,000 mt/year paraxylene and 35-40,000 mt/year orthoxylene units from next week for a 30-day shutdown.Petkim blamed shrinking profit margins,as highlighted by the recent unprecedented drop in the value of benzene below naphtha.
