US automakers'financial arms may be eligible for federal aid

Washington-Financial subsidiaries of major US automakers might be eligible for help under the 700 billion federal bailout bill,which became law earlier this month,White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said October 27.Perino said the Treasury Department had been in touch with the lending arms of companies including General Motors and that they may be eligible to apply for aid under the law.
