The structure of nystatin A2 was established on the basis of NMR studies which contained DQF-COSY,ROESY,HSQC and HMBC experiments.Nystatin A_2,a tetraene macrolide antibiotic exhibiting antifungal activity,is a component of nystatin complex produced by Streptomyces noursei [1].This complex is reported to posses three active components designated as nystatins:A_1,A_2 and A_3 [2].The gross structures of nystatin A_1 (main component) and nystatin A_3,elucidated by means of mass spectroscopic studies,have been published [3,4].An insight into the stereochemistry of nystatin A_1 was achieved by NMR studies,which resulted in the assignment of the absolute configuration of all chiral centres [5].
