New Way to Test Colorant Dispersibility

Davis-Standard Corp.in Pawcatuck,Conn.,has combined a standard 1-in.extruder with a melt pump,pressure sensors,filter screen,control panel,and display to test how well a color mas-terbatch disperses in a compound.An optional computer is needed to plot the pressure changes.The test device is called the KXE FPV-pump.It tests masterbatches against the new European DIN and EN standards that are required for many global compounds and are more stringent and quantifiable than previous ASTM standards of dispersion.
