High-Tech Film Labels Keep Drinks Cold

A new three-layer laminated PET film label is designed to keep drinks in aluminum cans cold.DuPont Packaging in Wilmington,Del.,developed the Cool2Go label stock(U.S.Patent Application 20030207059).It's a sandwich,30 to 40 mils thick,of two PET films around an insulating layer of PET fiberfill.Ultrasonic cutting seals the edges.The outer | polyester film is coated to accept printing.Cool2Go label stock is being toll produced for DuPont.It was test-marketed briefly in 2002 and again in 2003.
