Three families of calcium-zinc heat stabilizers for PVC are said to be cost-effective alternationves to lead in a broad range of wire and cable. New Therm-Chek powder stabilizers from Ferro Corp.'s Polymer Additves Div. in Independence, Ohio, boast dynamic thermal stability comparable to that of lead but at reduced use levels and without higher cost.
