Teck Resources cuts Q1 coal sales by 250,000 mt to 5.0-5.5 million mt

The Vancouver-based miner, Teck Resources, said January 19 that inclement weather would cut 2011 first quarter coal sales by around 250,000 mt. In a statement, Teck said that adverse weather conditions over a number of weeks in Canada’s western province of British Colombia has impacted both its own production capability and ability to distribute the fuel. It noted the force majeure announcement by Canadian Pacific Railways on January 17 and a mechanical failure January 12 at Westshore Terminals.
