CME, Dow Jones create JV to own Dow Jones indexes business

New York—CME Group, owner of the New York Mercantile Exchange, said Wednesday it has signed a deal with Dow Jones & Company to create a joint venture that would own Dow Jones' indexes business. The JV, which CME would own 90% of, would control the Dow Jones Industrial Average and 130,000 other indexes, CME said in a statement. Dow Jones would own the remaining 10% in the venture. "Our majority interest in this venture represents an important new milestone in CME Group's transformation into a global financial services company," Craig Donohue, CME's chief executive officer, said.
