Singapore — Asian acrylonitrile prices appear set to skyrocket this week, in response to acute supply shortages, market participants said. The CFR Far East Asia, CFR South East Asia and CFR South Asia benchmarks on Tuesday morning, were assessed at $1,900/mt, up 4.7% or $85/mt from the January 12 assessed level. In South Asia, an acrylic fiber producer was willing to pay up to $1,900 CFR South Asia for mid-February loading cargoes. Separately, a 2,000 mt cargo was said to had changed hands at $1,905/mt CFR South Asia.
