Northwest European polystyrene spot prices were assessed Eur5/mt lower for the first week of April as losses were attributed to weaker upstream indications and softer demand. Upstream, styrene monomer feedstock prices slid $8/mt week on week to close the session Wednesday at $1,447/mt FOB ARA. The Northwest European styrene contract price for April was fully settled at Eur1,300/mt ($1,712/mt), sources from Synbra and Shell confirmed Wednesday, Eur34/mt lower than the March CP of Eur1,334/mt FD NWE. The initial settlement was concluded between Styron and Total.
