FOB KOREA/JAPAN: The FOB Korea propylene price benchmark jumped $40/mt week on week to $1,501/mt Friday — the highest level since August 13, 2008 - driven by tight supplies as well as firm demand for FOB cargoes. Spot propylene supplies were scarce from South Korea as Yeochun NCC's 485,000 mt/year No. 1 naphtha-fed steam cracker continued to encounter problems, which kept the operating rates at 60-80%. Amid this, offers for spot propylene cargoes were lifted to $1,550/mt FOB Korea this week, higher than a deal done at $1,475/mt FOB Korea last week.
