Asian acrylonitrile was assessed unchanged Tuesday weekon week at $2,708/mt CFR Far East Asia, $2,660/mt CFRSoutheast Asia and $2,650/mt CFR South Asia as the pricegap between Asian producers and Asian buyers — especiallyin India and China — remained wide. It appears there hasbeen no spot trading on a CFR China basis for some time asthe price gap with China’s domestic price, at around Yuan18,800-19,000/mt or $2,407-2,433/mt on an import paritybasis, remains too wide. Indian buyers are reluctant todiscuss spot at prices above $2,400-2,500/mt CFR India asthey are under pressure from weak demand for acrylic fiber.
